Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! We enjoyed the sun in Arizona where it was 80 degrees and beautiful. We had dinner at Dan's Aunt & Uncle's house in Scottsdale and it was all so good. Dan's cousin Bridget is a vegetarian so I even got to have some Tofurkey. The drive was loooooooong!!!! It was a fun trip though and so SO nice to get out of town for awhile.
We had a doctor appointment yesterday with Dr. Theit and it was short and sweet. Only things to report include:
1. Weight - 123 (four pounds since last visit)
2. Baby's Heartbeat - good! :)
3. Glucose Test - Drank 100mL of a drink that was like Orange Soda with a cup of sugar added, waited an hour, and then another needle encounter to test if I metabolize sugar properly...I will only hear back from them if I didn't metabolize properly (meaning possible gestational diabetes) or if I am anemic.
It wasn't until after I left the doctor I thought that I should have asked to see the baby on the ultrasound again just to make sure the amniotic levels are good, but Dan assured me it's OK. We did ask a few questions about the pain I have under my right rib cage (hurts to laugh and when I get in certain positions) and the Doctor said it is just the uterus pushing my organs up on my ribs which is both normal and something that you just put up with. I have also been having back pains, but what is weird is that it hurts higher up (most women report lower back pain), so I think it's from sleeping mostly on my left side. Speaking of which, I can't get a good night's sleep these days, but usually when I am awake I feel Little D so I actually love it.
We went to the first of 3 Labor Classes last night. Since Dan's busy season starts in January, we opted to do it sooner and have it done by the middle of this month. The class was really good; informative and a little scary! Dan has now seen yet another birth on video...It was actually really good for us to get the information that we did because I now feel more empowered with knowing what to expect. I realize that it will be a day that I will need Dan with me more than any other day in my life. I also realize what an experience the whole process is and I now feel more ready to get prepared for it all. The UCSF Hospital has a really low C-section and intervention rate, so it is up to us what we want to do during labor. The hospital also keeps baby, mom, and dad together for an hour after the birth. That hour with the three of us will be so amazing...I will think about that when I need some inspiration during labor!
I will post belly pictures tomorrow...I have totally forgotten to do that since my last post. My mom has been asking me, so I promise to have them up tomorrow.
Erin you look beautiful. I cant believe how fast the time has gone by. Little D will be here before we know it. Please give Dan a big kiss for taking such good care of you.Love the picks and all the information. cant wait to see you guys. Two weeks and counting. Love Mom, Grandma
