Classes & Clothes

Dan and I took a two class series class called "Surviving the First Two Weeks with your Newborn." Hmmm where to start with this one? Not totally pointless, but the first teacher almost caused us to skip the second class. She was a very soft-spoken woman who kept jumping topics and never really covering anything in any sort of depth. We had to dress a doll at one point and even based on our limited knowledge, we just didn't think it was close to the 'real world' version of putting a onsie on a newborn (pretty sure they move a lot). The second class was much better, and the teacher really did have a lot of good information so not a total loss.
We of course felt like we were the most normal people in the class; there was the husband who spoke for the wife duo, the San Francisco beatniks, the couple that had never held or been around a baby in their lives (either of them!?) and seemed totally terrified, and a few others. Needless to say, we didn't meet another couple that we can hang out with for years to come and say how we met in our Birth Class, oh well. We still have the "Preparing for Labor" class that should be interesting (bring two pillows and a snack was the only instruction). I wish I could video tape this stuff...

Had a great weekend...Friday hung out with my sis and Katie (and Craig). We had appetizers, listened to Christmas music, chatted, and made a gingerbread dessert (I ate half). We could have stayed there all night, but Dan came to get me after he went to the Warriors game with Chris. I love nights like that! On Saturday we got to hang out with Scott and Kris and the cutest dog ever, Harley :) They came to San Francisco and we went to the De Young Museum's showing of the King Tut Exhibit. Scott pointed out how mature we were for doing this as an activity vs. our past excursions and we all had to agree...we might be trending toward maturity. It was such an interesting Exhibit and so incredible to see these artifacts that are 5,000 years old and built so beautifully and in tact. It's definitely one of those head scratching...how in the world did they make that, build that, etc.? After the Exhibit we headed back to the Marina for dinner at Ashoka, our favorite Indian Food restaurant. We ate everything in sight and it was delish.

On Sunday I headed to RP to visit Kirstin and her family. God, they are just such a cute family...I want to join. Her girls are the sweetest children...literally I don't think I have ever seen Alexis throw anything resembling a fit in the almost 4 years I have known her and the same goes for Payton who is going to be 2 in March. I think I need manners boot camp from the Bunch family. Kirstin and I went out shopping and had lunch which was just so much fun. I finally bought something for Little D...my first purchase! I had been holding out and it actually felt good to finally buy something for him. A few things I bought were socks that look like Converse shoes, a few onsie's (one that reads: "I'm Big and Strong just like my Daddy" excuse me I couldn't help myself), and a pair of fleece pants. We had a great day and I stayed almost until the Bunch's had to go to dinner (oops!)...I never want to leave :(

At home Sunday evening I asked Dan to take a picture of me so I could post it on here...this didn't go well. #1 I was in Pajamas and they were pink and (I blame it on the camera angle) I looked like a hippo. #2 Dan isn't a genius on the camera like me...kidding aside I could not, in my own best interests, post any of the photos taken (all deleted). So, when I can put something black on and look a little less hippo, I will post the pic. I promise to post one after Thanksgiving when I will be even bigger...Upside is that when I get on the bus people take one look at my stomach and offer their seat, so I get a coveted bus seat frequently these days...

We are headed to Arizona for Thanksgiving tomorrow for the week, returning Sunday. It's supposed to be 79 degrees on Thanksgiving, which will be so strange; the holidays are supposed to be cold! Dan turns 32 while we are there, so we will be celebrating him and the Pilgrims. Looking forward to the trip and the time off...ready to be off-line at work.

Hope everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving...I'll be thinking of you all with love!

Had to post this pic...is that the biggest turkey you've ever seen in your life, hilarious???
